Longer-lasting helmets • Safer rides • Better comfort

Your helmet is the most important piece of riding gear you own. Whether you cruise city streets or ride long-distance highways, dirt, sweat, UV exposure and daily wear slowly degrade materials. Cleaning your helmet the right way not only keeps it fresh, but it also preserves its protective performance. Here’s how to keep it in top shape, step by step.

1. Clean the Exterior Without Damaging the Shell

The outer shell endures everything: bugs, dust, sun, rain. But harsh chemicals can weaken its structure over time.

  • Use warm water & microfiber cloths: break down dirt without scratching.
  • Avoid solvents or alcohol: they damage paint and polycarbonate.
  • Let difficult bugs soften: lay a wet cloth on top for 5–10 minutes.

2. Properly Clean the Visor (Without Scratching)

Your visor is your window to the world. Take extra care of it.

  • Use only visor-safe products: avoid glass cleaners, they ruin anti-fog coatings.
  • Warm water soak: gently soften dirt and wipe clean.
  • Never use paper towels: they scratch the visor's surface.

3. Freshen Up the Interior

Sweat, heat, and moisture build up inside your helmet over time. Cleaning the interior restores comfort and hygiene.

  • Remove the pads: most helmets have washable liners.
  • Hand wash with gentle soap: avoid washing machines.
  • Air dry only: keep away from direct sun or heat.

4. When to Replace Your Helmet

Even with perfect care, helmets don’t last forever. The materials slowly degrade, and impact absorption decreases over time.

  • Replace every 5 years (industry standard).
  • Immediately replace after any crash: even small impacts compromise safety.
  • Check the padding fit regularly: a loose interior means it’s time for a new one.
